About National Pan-Hellenic Council
History
The National Pan-Hellenic Council was formed at Howard University with the purpose of creating a united body so that the Black Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities could form a united body. Additionally, this Council served as a forum to allow these Greek organization to consider and address problems of mutual interest effecting their organizations and their college experience.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council additionally serves as the governing body for the entire community of the predominantly Black Greek letter organizations. The Council is in charge of coordinating events that exposes the undergraduate student body to the history, mission and purpose of all of the divine nine member organizations on the University campus. The Council also sponsors events which promote unity among the membership of the different organizations.

The Divine Nine at The University of Mississippi
The National Pan-Hellenic Council at The University of Mississippi is comprised of five of the “Divine Nine” or historically Black National Greek Letter sororities and fraternities:
Alpha Phi Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated
NPHC Step Show
The National Pan-Hellenic Council will generally host two Step Shows during each academic year featuring all of the University of Mississippi NPHC organizations. The Homecoming Step Show is generally held the night of the Homecoming Football game and the Spring Step Show is generally held in February. Tickets for the Step Shows may be purchased through the NPHC Eventbrite. Date and time information for these Step Shows is publicized on our social media. Information on these events is also available in the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (Student Union Suite D). Meet the Greeks Week
Meet the Greeks Week is the introduction of all of the University of Mississippi NPHC Greek organizations. Additionally, NPHC organizations will host several events to showcase each organizations mission, purpose, and accomplishments. Meet the Greeks Week traditionally includes tables in the Unions, Greeks on the Plaza, the Greek Forum, and a Step Show & party. This is a week filled with information and fun. Greek Forum
The Greek Forum is a mandatory event for students who wish to pursue membership to any of the NPHC Greek organizations. Greek Forum will take place in the first few weeks of both the fall and spring semesters. Students who are considering participating in a Greek organizations Intake process must attend Greek Forum before attending any NPHC organization’s interest meeting.
